The BFG (2016) tells the wonderful story of a girl, named Sophie, who encounters the big friendly Giant. The giant, despite of his appearance, turns out to be a kind hearted soul outcast by the other giants because of his refusal to eat children. Both, the Sophie and the Giant, go on an adventure to giant country.

4. Steven Spielberg wasn’t approached first!
Steven Spielberg was not the first choice to direct The BFG (2016). John Madden was going to direct the film but rather he decided to focus on The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015) instead. Madden remained involved in the production process as an executive producer of this film.
3. The BFG is different from other Spielberg film!
We don’t see a lot of female or child led roles in Steven Spielberg’s films. This time The BFG (2016) has both a female protagonist and child protagonist. The Color Purple (1985) was the last film to feature a female protagonist and A. I. Artificial Intelligence (2001) was the last film to feature a child protagonist in Steven Spielberg directed film.
2. Mark Rylance and Steven Spielberg together again!
Mark Rylance and Steven Spielberg again work together for this film after both working on the film Bridge of Spies (2015). Mark Rylance won Academy Award for Best Actor in a supporting role for his role in Bridge of Spies (2015).
