16. Millennium Falcon was built life size for The Empire Strikes Back! 

An entire Millennium Falcon ship was made only for The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Only half of the spacecraft was made for Episode IV and VI. The ship measured 65 feet in diameter 16 feet high with the overall length of 80 feet. The Falcon’s weight was 23 tons.

15. George Lucas apologized for this film! 

Director George Lucas initially called The Empire Strikes Back (1980) the worst star wars film and even apologised fir its existence. Later, he changed his mind after watching the overwhelming reviews of the film.

14. Obi-Wan actor was paid millions for his one day work! 

Return of Sir Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi was unclear as he had an eye operation during the principal photography of the film.

He agreed to return and worked just one day on the film (Wednesday, 5th September 1979). He reached the studio at 8:30 am and completed his scenes by 1 pm. He was paid quarter of a percentage point of film’s gross which was worth millions of dollars.

13. Longest Star Wars film to shoot! 

The principal photography of The Empire Strikes Back (1980) took 180 days. This is the longest shoot of any of the “Star Wars” films.

12. In Italy, Vader means Toilet! 

Darth Vader’s name comes Dutch word Darth (means Dark) and Vader (means Father).In Italy, Darth Vader’s name was changed to Lord Fenner. This was done because the word ‘Vader’ in Italy means toilet.

11. Only Star Wars film not takes place on Deserted Tatooine! 

The Empire Strikes Back (1980) is the only film in original Star Wars Trilogy (Episode IV, V, and VI) which doesn’t takes place on deserted planet Tatooine. Tatooine is only mentioned by name in the end of the film. Tatooine also appears in Episode I, II, and III, and makes it the only planet that appears 5 times in the entire Star Wars saga.

10. Luke was on his own in almost whole film! 

Luke Skywalker is separated from the most of main characters in most parts of film. The only scene where all rebel characters (Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, C3PO, and R2 D2) are seen together is the hospital bed scene.
