Space Ship Millennium Falcon set was most difficult item to build. It’s interior was designed to look like a submarine. The ship was made of scrap airplane metal. Iconic chess set in Falcon took several weeks to finish.

7. Spielberg suggested John Williams to Lucas! 

John Williams composed the music of this film. The music is ranked #1 on AFI’s 100 years of film scores. Steven Spielberg recommended John Williams to George Lucas. Steven also predicted the huge success of this movie.

6. Earlier Han Solo had green skin and gills! 

Earlier script of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977) had Luke Skywalker as a 60 year old general and Han Solo had gills and green skin. Luke Skywalker appears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) as an old Jedi master with grey beard.

5. There was condition to finish shooting by 5:30 pm! 

There was a British working condition to finish shooting by 5:30 pm each day while filming. It was followed strictly unless George Lucas was in middle of a scene.

4. Earlier Skywalker was Starkiller! 

Lead character Luke Skywalker was earlier named Luke Starkiller. Later it was changed to Skywalker. The name Starkiller was later used as J. J. Abrams named First Order Base as “Starkiller Base”, seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), a homage to George Lucas.

3. Chewbacca was tallest on set! 

Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and David Prowse (Darth Vader) are tallest actors in entire cast. Mayhew is 7’3″ and Prowse is 6’6″.

2. Star Wars is remake of The Hidden Fortress! 

Earlier there was a script of the movie which featured a cast made entirely of robots. The film is a loose remake of The Hidden Fortress (1958).

1. Obi-Wan was going to survive! 

Obi-Wan Kenobi was never going to be killed. It was soon that George Lucas realized that there is not much room for the character. Alec Guinness also suggested to kill his character Obi-Wan Kenobi. He said “I just didn’t have the heart to go on saying these lines”.
